Thank you to everyone who attended our open house and ribbon cutting this weekend for the new state of the art Emergency Department at the Saint Alphonsus Nampa Health Plaza. We had more than 800 people attend Saturday’s event.
It’s been a pleasure to see this 8,000-square-foot facility take shape and we’re proud to have it open. The Nampa Health Plaza ER includes 11 beds, supported by full diagnostic radiology services, including CT scanning and laboratory facilities.
As Karl Keeler, the CEO of Saint Alphonsus Medical Center – Nampa said to our staff this week, this event was a great opportunity for individuals and families in our community to celebrate positive growth in the Nampa area. The new facility also underscores our commitment to providing superior quality healthcare close to home and helping our communities grow and thrive.
Saint Alphonsus Health System is investing $33.5 million in the Nampa community to expand access and enhance medical services. The new Emergency Department is part of a 62,000 square foot expansion that will include the Fredric Birkeland Maternity Center. The 20-bed obstetrics unit is named in honor of Dr. Fred Birkeland. Dr. Birkeland delivered more than 5,000 babies in his career as an obstetrician in Canyon County before he passed away in 2007.
But, it gets better: The Saint Alphonsus Nampa Health Plaza will also be home to a new Comprehensive Heart Care Center with ten cardiac care inpatient beds. We expect the Heart Care Center and the Fredric Birkeland Maternity Center to open later this year.
Of course, patient emergency care will continue to be provided at the Saint Alphonsus Medical Center – Nampa Emergency Department located at 1512 12th Avenue Road in Nampa.
Thank you to everyone who joined us on this great day for Nampa.
