We’re hard at work at Saint Alphonsus Health System every day to achieve our Mission and Vision, to provide health and healing close to home. I’m pleased to be a part of a healthcare delivery system that is inspired by a Mission of this magnitude and vitality. And although we have many venues for communicating with our communities, I wanted to add one more.
With that in mind, I welcome you to this venue for discussion and observation. I’ve chosen to call this “Healthy Conversations,” because so much of what we do at Saint Alphonsus is a collective effort, and I hope this format allows for a give and take about the work we share.
We’re now just stepping into the New Year, and I know that 2013 will bring forth many exciting and transformative developments. Across Saint Alphonsus Health System we have many things planned, and I’ll look forward to sharing information and news in this venue.
Among the many good things we’ll be talking about in 2013 will be important enhancements to new services, like the new Emergency Room at the Garrity Exit in Nampa, and our expanded Emergency Room facilities here in Boise. You will learn more about the debut of Saint Alphonsus Health Alliance, which is led by physicians and our way of coordinating the delivery of healthcare in a collaborative and transparent manner. The Saint Alphonsus Health Alliance is one of the most significant partnerships that we’ve created, and the results will lead to improved patient outcomes and reduced costs for all involved. In a world of escalating health care costs, the Saint Alphonsus Health Alliance is our answer to provide care that offers value, and we’re proud of this initiative.
We’ll also be closely watching the implementation of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. I’ve recently written about the decision of Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter to lead Idaho toward a state-based health insurance exchange, and we’ll all be intent on witnessing the Idaho Legislature’s review and discussion on the Governor’s directive on this matter.
Please come back often. I’ll update this page as frequently as time permits, and we will have a variety of physicians, community leaders, and other healthcare experts weigh in the evolving healthcare transformations. We’ll also notify fans of our Facebook page and Twitter accounts that we’ve got new conversations to share and ideas to exchange. Thank you for your time, and I hope to see you here again soon.
